Every custom building block project starts with an idea.

Customers can provide photos, drawings, product images, logos, architectural designs, or other references. Our designers then convert these references into a digital building block model.

During the design stage, we consider the model's:

Building stability

The goal is to create a model that not only looks accurate but can also be built and assembled as a real brick set.

For more complex projects, such as vehicles, buildings, machinery, and large scenes, the structure may go through several rounds of optimization before the design is finalized.

2. Sample Development

Once the digital model is completed, the next step is sample development.

A physical sample is important because some problems cannot be identified from a digital rendering alone. The sample allows us to check how the bricks connect, whether the structure is stable, whether the colors match the design, and whether the finished model has the expected appearance.

During this stage, customers can review the physical sample and request adjustments if necessary.

At YILI CRAFT, design proposals can be developed in around 3 days, while sample production generally takes around 7–10 days depending on the complexity of the project.

3. Brick Production and Injection Molding

After the sample is approved, the project moves into production.

Building blocks are commonly manufactured using ABS plastic because it offers good strength, durability, surface quality, and dimensional stability.

The ABS material is heated and injected into precision molds to form individual brick components. After molding, the parts are checked for dimensions, surfaces, and connection quality.

For standard brick shapes, existing molds can be used. For special shapes or unique product requirements, customized molds can also be developed.

4. Color Matching and Printing

5. Assembly Testing and Quality Control

The approved sample becomes the production reference, while the confirmed piece list and specifications are used to control each production batch.

Production time depends on the model complexity, order quantity, number of custom parts, printing requirements, and packaging.
